I do my absolute best, to only speak truth.
I’m mindful with my words, especially if they involve promises or commitments to other people.
If I say I’m going to meet you, I will.
If I think something might get in the way of that meeting, I will say “I might have to reschedule on Thursday, just a heads up.”
Or “I might go to fill in the blank, but not definitely.”
The people I spend my time with are the same. We trust each other, and our words mean something.
I’ve noticed out in the world lately, a lot of people say things they don’t actually mean. Something as small as, “I’ll send you an email today.” And it’s not sent.
It slowly builds distrust.
I know we’re human and things happen.
But our spoken words are a fundamental component of being a high quality, high integrity, high trust, safe, and respectful human.
If you read The Four Agreements decades ago like I did, you know about the first agreement.
“Be impeccable with your word.”
In my opinion though, we shouldn’t need to read a book to know how to be honest and trustworthy.
Sonja, xo!
