I listen to people say, “I would do anything for my family. I’d do anything for my kids. I’d do anything for my loved ones (my spouse, my parents, my siblings, my best friends).”
And that’s beautiful. Truly.
But here’s something that might ruffle a few feathers, though I promise, I mean it with love.
Would you get healthier, for them?
It’s something I think about a lot.
Because while we say we’d do anything for the people we love, I see so many people sacrificing their health in the name of love.
Putting themselves last.
Burning out.
Running on fumes.
But the truth is: the people who love you?
They don’t want you to sacrifice yourself.
They don’t want to watch you suffer.
They don’t want to see you in pain.
They want you here. Healthy, vibrant, alive, for 10, 20, 30, 40 more years.
They want you to feel good.
To thrive.
To be happy.
So when I say that putting yourself on the back burner doesn’t help anyone…
I mean it.
These are not just words, they carry weight. And I’m here, saying it as clearly as I can:
Taking care of you, is the most important thing you can do.
Yes, for yourself. That always comes first.
But a very, very close second? Is for the people who love you.
There’s only one answer when it comes to your health and well-being. It’s a big, resounding YES, from everyone around you.
Sonja, xo
