An intelligent man once said…
“Never go to sleep without a request to your subconscious.” – Thomas Edison
Let me ask you, have you noticed if your thoughts have been mostly positive or mostly negative this week? I ask, as today I want to talk to you about your mind, in particular your subconscious mind. For most of us, we think negative thoughts 90% of the time!
For some, they know the importance and the power of their subconscious mind, for others, it seems a bit ‘out there’ but believe me, it isn’t. Your subconscious mind has the largest influence over your behaviours, beliefs, and experiences. It’s like a huge memory bank that stores everything that has ever happened to you, OMG, I know.
Your conscious mind commands and your subconscious mind obeys.
Why does this matter, you’re wondering? Well, for many reasons, but the one we’ll touch on today is as follows: Your subconscious mind causes you to feel emotionally and physically uncomfortable whenever you attempt to do anything new or different, or to change any of your established patterns of behaviour.
Pretty important!
As I know you want to change your health and your life, correct? By getting your subconscious mind on board, you will reach your goals much faster! Sounds good doesn’t it?
Your subconscious mind wants to help you improve your life, it wants you to be happy, healthy, and wealthy! You just have to trust its vast resources and allow it to do its thing.
So, let’s start now. Here’s a bedtime practice that you can do before you go to sleep, it takes 5 minutes.
Step 1: Close your eyes and take one minute to make a request to your subconscious. It can be anything. Start small with something that is relatively easy to change. “I want to go for a jog before work.”
Step 2: Take two minutes to visualize yourself actually able to do this thing. If it’s getting the motivation to jog before work, you must visualize yourself doing the request that you asked your subconscious. Imagine yourself getting up a few minutes earlier than usual, putting on your exercise clothes and jogging shoes, and heading out into the morning sunshine. You start jogging, watching the sun rise over the buildings, the birds chirping, and you are feeling wonderful.
Step 3: Take two minutes to imagine the feeling that will occur when you are able to accomplish this new thing. How do you feel when you walk back in your front door after a morning jog? Energized? Whatever feeling you want to achieve imagine that you have already created this emotion inside of yourself. Let it sink in, then go to sleep and let your subconscious do the rest of the work.
Who’s excited to go to be tonight? Just 5 minutes…enjoy!
Live Inspired,
Sonja.
