Are You a Good or Bad Student?

by | Apr 28, 2016 | Self Care | 0 comments

The gift of beginner’s mind was how I decided to start my morning last Saturday. I had a very long two hour workout with a body building friend of mine, he’s been doing it for decades, I actually felt like I was learning from Arnold Schwarzenegger and his old school ways!

It was THE best workout.

I hung on every word he said with the curiosity and openness of a child. No ego. No “I already know that”. I was the student. And a few people around us at the gym were saying “Who’s training who?” as they know my profession.

I was so excited to say “He’s training me!”

How fun is that?

I learned so much, it was the best impromptu workshop I’ve been in. No contest. And I must say my new favourite exercise is the superstar Deep Deadlift, probably because I have the technique of a feminine champ in that one;)

And at the end he said “I feel like I didn’t really teach you anything…did you learn anything new?”

Wow. Are you kidding, I learned tons and tons! And not sitting at a desk.

I got to learn it in my BODY.
Feel it in my body.
Experience it in my body.
Know it in my body.

I had to laugh at his ‘did I teach you anything’ question, as his question is what I do too, and so do you. When we know something, we think everyone else does.

They don’t.

Your skills, knowledge, kindness and experience are VALUABLE to others.

What are you going to learn this week?

What are you going to teach this week?

Live Inspired,

Sonja.

After 20 years as the trusted coach and secret weapon behind high achieving women, I know the shift that changes everything.

It’s not that you need to become more disciplined.

And it’s definitely not that you need to turn wellness into another job.

The real shift starts when you stop treating your body, your energy, and your health like they can wait.

Inside, you’ll get 3 strategic shifts to help you stop seeing yourself as inconsistent, make your health a priority without guilt, and start feeling confident and powerful in your body again.
